Hi this is my short story! The Gift I like to receive gifts that do not cost money rather than something that anybody can buy everywhere. The gifts that come from the hearth are the best ones, especially if you receive them from someone you appreciate. Those gifts last forever in our mind and make us appreciate more the sentimental gifts than the material ones. In my whole life I had received many gifts that did not cost money, but there is one that I remember as the best one I ever received. It was early in the morning on October 17. I was still lying on my bed half awake and the phone rang. It was my mom who went into a trip with my little sister to her hometown Monterrey which is not so far away from where I lived in Mexico. She called me because it was my eighteen birthday. I did not even remember that it was my birthday. She felt a little guilty for not being there that day. After having a little conversation with her, I left the room and my older sister was getting ready for her work. She hugged me and gave me a gift wrapped in blue paper. It was a book that she read years ago. She said it contained a lot of information that would be useful to me and would help me to understand many things about adulthood. After several hours my dad came home and also congratulated me as everybody else did. He gave me some money just as every birthday. Year after year was the same story. This time I wanted something different. It was getting late when a friend called me and asked me to come to his house to do some homework. I did not tell him that it was my birthday. When I got there I found out that all my friends were having a surprise party for me. I did not have a clue that they were doing that party for me, so I was so exited and happy to see all of my friends there. It was late at night when one of my friends brought a tequila bottle and told me that I could drink some because now I was over aged. In Mexico it is legal to drink alcohol when you turn eighteen. I drank shot after shot till I got so stupid that I was laughing about everything. It was a totally different experience for me because I never got drunk before. I felt as if I were flying and everything around me was moving, it was so cool. That night I acted like a different person, even though I was conscientious of what I was doing, I was not afraid of been silly in front of my friends. I did many things that I would not do sober. It was the best birthday gift I ever had, not only because I got drunk but mainly because all of my friends were there with me celebrating my birthday.
